Sharing your concern with the Safe Disclosure Office

Reaching out can be hard, but we are here to listen.

The Safe Disclosure Office (SDO) is a place for employees and volunteers hired or engaged by the City of Edmonton to talk about concerns related to harassment, discrimination, and a respectful workplace when they are unable to bring them forward to their supervisor.

The SDO assesses and makes decisions independently of City Administration, however it reports administratively to the Director of Respect in the Workplace.  The SDO does not act as an advocate for any party, conduct investigations, or substantiate allegations.

What to expect at your appointment

Anonymous submissions

To submit an anonymous concern, do not include any information in the form that identifies you, such as your name, phone number, email address, employee ID, etc. These fields must be left blank in order for the submission to be truly anonymous.

The SDO will assess your concern based only on the information you provided in the incident details section of the form. In this field you should provide specific examples, including dates, quotes, description of behaviour, actions, etc. Identify the person or persons you have a concern about by name if possible. This person is the respondent and their names should be written in the respondent field.

You can choose to submit a concern anonymously; however, please know that we cannot guarantee follow up or action on anonymous submissions.

The SDO's Duty to Report
